Building food systems that work — from the soil to the cloud.

Interwoven Systems is an advisory firm at the intersection of food, technology, and place. We help governments, nonprofits, foundations, and operators design and build food systems that are economically viable, technically sound, and rooted in the communities they serve.

What we do

Three practice areas, woven together.

Most engagements draw on at least two of these practices. Working with us means not having to coordinate three vendors who don’t speak each other’s languages.

i.

Food Systems Advisory

Regional food strategy, urban agriculture, supply-chain design, market infrastructure, nonprofit operations. Drawn from a decade of building Carolina Farm Trust into a 25,000-square-foot regional food market and urban farms network.

ii.

IT & Data Infrastructure

Cloud architecture, data platforms, AI and analytics enablement, and digital transformation for organizations that have outgrown spreadsheets. Built on enterprise IT consulting experience at Cambridge Technology.

iii.

Integrated Engagements

Where the other two strands meet — community-rooted projects that need food expertise, technical depth, and on-the-ground engagement design. The work that is hardest to scope and most worth doing.

Why this combination

Most food systems work fails on the operations and technology side. We exist because both failures are avoidable.

Most food systems initiatives fail on the operations and technology side. Most digital transformation work in agriculture fails because the consultants have never run a farm, a market, or a community meeting. Interwoven exists because both kinds of failure are avoidable when the work is done by people who have lived on both sides.
